Can I just say, “Eeeewwwww!”

By now I’m sure you’ve all read the stories about PETA wanting Ben and Jerry’s to stop using milk from cows and using human breast milk instead.  And I’m also sure that you cringed at the thought of lactating women squirting their breast milk into big mixing vats.  This is the latest in PETA’s weird attempts to force everyone to believe what they believe.  If you haven’t read it, here’s the letter:

Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield, Cofounders

Ben & Jerry’s Homemade Inc.

Dear Mr. Cohen and Mr. Greenfield,

On behalf of PETA and our more than 2 million members and supporters, I’d like to bring your attention to an innovative new idea from Switzerland that would bring a unique twist to Ben and Jerry’s.

Storchen restaurant is set to unveil a menu that includes soups, stews, and sauces made with at least 75 percent breast milk procured from human donors who are paid in exchange for their milk. If Ben and Jerry’s replaced the cow’s milk in its ice cream with breast milk, your customers-and cows-would reap the benefits.

Using cow’s milk for your ice cream is a hazard to your customer’s health. Dairy products have been linked to juvenile diabetes, allergies, constipation, obesity, and prostate and ovarian cancer. The late Dr. Benjamin Spock, America’s leading authority on child care, spoke out against feeding cow’s milk to children, saying it may play a role in anemia, allergies, and juvenile diabetes and in the long term, will set kids up for obesity and heart disease-America’s number one cause of death.

Animals will also benefit from the switch to breast milk. Like all mammals, cows only produce milk during and after pregnancy, so to be able to constantly milk them, cows are forcefully impregnated every nine months. After several years of living in filthy conditions and being forced to produce 10 times more milk than they would naturally, their exhausted bodies are turned into hamburgers or ground up for soup.

And of course, the veal industry could not survive without the dairy industry. Because male calves can’t produce milk, dairy farmers take them from their mothers immediately after birth and sell them to veal farms, where they endure 14 to17 weeks of torment chained inside a crate so small that they can’t even turn around.

The breast is best! Won’t you give cows and their babies a break and our health a boost by switching from cow’s milk to breast milk in Ben and Jerry’s ice cream? Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Tracy Reiman

Executive Vice President

I’m sure I speak for the majority of people that if Ben and Jerry’s did this we probably wouldn’t eat their ice cream.  I wouldn’t be able to stomach the new Cookies and ‘Cream’ flavor.  I think some of the flavor names would have to change and that could be interesting.  Here are some of the ones I came up with:

Cherry Garcia’s Mom

New York Double Breast Chunk

Chunky Monkey Boobs

Half Breasted

Everthing bust the…

Vanilla, but with breast milk

They’d also have to change their logo since it has cows on it.  I imagine it would look something like this:

So there you have it folks.  Let’s pray that this never really happens.

That’s disgusting and hilarioius! But would you risk the gambit of transfering HIV or AIDS thorough breast milk? How is that safer than Cows Milk…Hmmmm, Diabetes or AIDS…gosh that’s a tough one.

OK. I AM a nursing mother and this is the nastiest thing I have heard. And, not to be graphic, but we don’t really produce the QUANTITY! I may not be a great producer, but I get like 4 oz afer pumping for 15 minutes. This would be really expensive stuff. You couldn’t really pay me enough. This has got to be fake, right? So funny.

Ok, um, this is really gross. But I have an interesting question. If cows have to be forcefully impregnated every 9 months to produce the milk, would they turn around and forcefully impregnate women so they can produce the milk and then take away our children? Goodness knows that we produce much less milk in one pumping than a cow. On average I get maybe 6-8 ounces for one 15 minute pumping. It would take 8-9 pumping sessions to produce one gallon. How many hundreds of gallons go into making this ice cream? Breast milk is best? Really? You never know, it could be your wife, mother or sister contributing to your favorite “flavor”.

Ben and Jerry’s stated that in order to make one gallon of ice cream, it takes 12 gallons of cow’s milk, and with a lower fat content, mother’s milk might be less efficient. Information Resources Inc. data, which doesn’t count Wal-Mart or food-service outlets, indicates that the brand sold more than 73 million pints of ice cream in the 52 weeks ended Sept. 7. Even assuming a woman could supply enough milk for a pint a day. Which would still require more than 200,000 to contribute to the effort full time, not including the needs of Wal-Mart or other outlets. That is just sick.

So the only other option is to segregate those women who choose to give milk for money, and prevent them from eating anything but what we feed them. Due to diseases, they could only come in contact with people who check clear of having disease–such as male company. They must have children to give milk. So basically we would treat women like cows?

I hear the chanting of women rights violations. Sure lets free the cows of something natural and put women through the pain; let’s treat them like cows, herd them up then brand them, good thinking; idiots. I mean honestly lets hook Tracy Reiman’s ass up to a milk pump for 12 hours straight and see how humane it is then.

The brains these people have must be affected by the saybeans or tofu, cause this thinking process is not normal.

wow cannot believe people are so simple minded to think that this idea ia gross. we do contract diseases and other aillments from cows. even the process of pasterizing is harmaful to us. there are already milk banks set up across the world for people to donate and receive. breastmilk is a cure and preventor to a lot of things do your research before you make comments about something out of the ordinary and unlike animals women do not have to be or get pregnant to lactate. if a mother wants to breastfeed her child and cant she is not looked down on for having a wet nurse. if a woman dies and the father chooses breast milk he is not looked down upon for choosing a wet nurse. both of these require milk being given to a baby from someone else.duh? we have blood banks, screening and tests are done to protect and they are not 100% accurate but close enough that we do it, what about organ transplants. these are the same principles. all im saying do your research people find out how many adult lives are being saved and prolonged with the use of breast milk. how many topical ailements are being treated. thank you
